The article discusses the case of a clinical trial that went wrong. Six men at a London, England teaching hospital were taking a new drug to promote the growth of T cells but came down with septic shock. Dr. Ganesh Suntharalingam, director of intensive care at Northwick Park and St. Mark's Hospital, compared the turn of events to an infective epidemic and described how the staff took care in chronicling every detail of the ordeal. The men eventually recovered and were released from the hospital.
