    • Abstract:
The article discusses the correlation between infant deaths and adequacy of prenatal health care. The infant mortality rate in the U.S. is cited. A study of all the births in New York City in 1968 has revealed a strong correlation between infant deaths and adequacy of prenatal health care. The study has assigned mothers to one of four risk categories which include no special risk, socio-demographic risk, medical-obstetric risk and combined sociomedical risk.
