    • Abstract:
The article discusses Carlos Monsiváis's essay "Vino todo el pueblo y no cupo en la pantalla," translated to "All the People Came and Did Not Fit Onto the Screen," by John King, which tackles issues concerning Mexican cinema. Cinema is an emblem of modernity and embodied the latest technology with films produced on an industrial scale for mass consumption. Modernity is both what all the people saw and how they saw it and if both fits onto, it exceeds the screen of representation.
