The article focuses on the customer experience of shopping at MAC, a cosmetics retailer with nearly 1,000 stores worldwide. MAC is a division of $6.3 billion cosmetics giant Estée Lauder. The article describes how visitors to MAC stores are treated to a collaborative "artistic" experience that suggests the best makeup products for clients by considering clients part of the artistic process. MAC artists are not commissioned salespeople, so visitors do not feel pressured to buy products.
