- Abstract:
This article reports that many American playwrights, unable to interest theater producers in the United States, are taking their plays to Great Britain where they find ready audiences. It is the writers of political and sociological dramas, such as Peter Morris, who are out of favor in the U.S. but who enjoy great success in the U.K. American mainstream theaters, which rely on corporate sponsorship, are afraid of jeopardizing funding by courting provocative writers. INSET: Stage invasion.
