    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the presence of endometriosis, a gynecological disorder characterized by the presence of endometrium in the uterus lining in women and the environmental risk factors which triggers the occurrence of the disease in women. According to report, the disease could be associated with the frequent exposure to pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB). Research revealed that woman who had the disease has higher level of PCB. The chemical reportedly could be accumulated in the food chain because of its presence in meat, fish, and poultries. The differences in the degree of the disease in women can be traced back in how the pollutant is detoxified or eliminated in the body. Methods have been developed in detecting the PCB concentrations in women's body.
