WRITTEN EXERCISES TO IMPROVE READING AND THINKING IN THE SOCIAL-STUDIES FIELD.

This article presents some criteria to prepare study exercises to improve the standard of learning social studies in elementary schools in the United States. The criteria say that the study exercises should be prepared as study guides and there should be some variety in their content and purpose. The exercises should contribute in the development of learning ability and assist students in developing the habits of correct spelling, good handwriting and good diction. They should develop skills in students of interpretation of pictures and encourage creative activities, wide reading and help in developing interests and desirable attitudes.
