    • Abstract:
The article cites a study that tries to understand the basis for the required music course to all pupils in a junior high school in the U.S. The Seashore Measures of Musical Talent were administered to pupils. Each pupil was asked whether he would include music in his program of studies should he be given a choice. The study analyzed whether pupils objecting to the requirement of public-school music were less capable of profiting from it than were those electing to continue the course.
