      The article presents news and views pertaining to higher education in the United States. A storm has stranded one of the vans carrying the University of North Dakota's basketball team at a rest area on Interstate 29 between Wahpeton and Grand Forks. The international electronic group Humanist linked those who support computing and the humanities through the Bitnet, NetNorth, and Earn node in Toronto, Canada. The proposed creation of a new division by combining the Department of Student Affairs and University College at the University of Rhode Island made some officials unhappy.
