      The article discusses the relationship of research scientists to Washington D.C. based on the follow-up investigation of research scientist in 1964. The researchers are more active as consultants on specific research proposals of several government agencies and part-time or full-time advisors of scientific committees. Scientist wary of falling into a trap which might jeopardize their status, and they cannot climb out on limbs or advise off-beat. The researchers propose that social scientist are called to because of their skills and resourcefulness towards realistic assignments.
