    • Abstract:
The article reports on the need to come up with counter-measures to negate the vulnerability of electronic voting machines to fraud in the upcoming U.S. election season, according to a study issued by the New York University School of Law in New York City. These e-voting devices including touch-screen or optical scan systems may be liable to external attack. The study was prepared by computer scientists and voting machine experts working on a task force set up by the university's Brennan Center for Justice in order to examine system security. Larry Norden, chairman of the task force, said that half of the manual voting systems in the country have been replaced with electronic devices. However, security procedures have not been adapted to meet the demands of the new technology.
