    • Abstract:
The article examines questions related to cheating in higher education. The authors believe that attempts to solve problems related to cheating, academic dishonesty, and plagiarism require a systematic approach. They see higher education in the United States as an institution that fosters a culture of cheating. They explain that higher education is often seen a pathway to job opportunities and financial success. Students often perceive universities and colleges as a stepping stone to something else. They want to succeed in college and not to produce their own knowledge; undergraduate classes often are lecture dependent and do not feature active learning strategies. Cheating can best be addressed, according to the authors, by changing the culture of universities and colleges.
