- Abstract:
The article offers information on the significance of understanding and acceptance when dealing with mentally retarded children. The author explains that professionals who are dealing with this group of children should understand their behavior complaints. When trying to express understanding of the child's difficulties, a professional should make him or her realize that he or she is understood. Accepting the child means the show of personal sensitivity and the provision of sympathy to his or her complaints.
