The article reports on the plans made by desktop telephone makers to bring Internet protocol-based phones that are user-friendly compared to existing models, and that interoperate with wireless networks and other devices. These desktop telephone makers, which include Avaya Inc., Mitel Networks Corp., and Siemens Communications Inc., plans to bring desktop phones into line with their mobile counterparts. Siemens will unveil up to six phone bodies, focusing on easy user interface. Avaya released two phone models, which have faceplates with color changing features, high-fidelity sound, and USB port for external connections. Mitel also announced Internet protocol-based phones, focusing on ease of use and high-fidelity sound.
