    • Abstract:
The article presents the author's comments on Robert E. Dewar's article on root and tree crops that have traditionally been grown throughout the far-flung islands of the tropical and subtropical Pacific. According to the author, these tropics always considered root and tree crops as the cultigens of choice primarily because they require low labor inputs. Also because they tend to be resistant to diseases and in general they are not subject to relatively short-term variations in rainfall.
