    • Abstract:
The article discusses issues concerning the controversy surrounding the release the war film "Battleship Potemkin" in Germany on April 29, 1926. The film has secured for itself a place in the annals of censorship and of anti-Communist and anti-Semitic propaganda. Two of the most recurrent negative responses to the film are concerned with the issue of Tendenzkunst or tendentious art and that of collective art.
