The article cites a study assessing the nature of science education research in the U.S. in 1977. The purpose of the study is to provide an overview of what occurred in science education research during the year and to determine some of the unique features of the years' research. Among the type of research analyzed in the investigation include the surveys pertaining to science supervisors and scientists. The assessment concluded that student learning essentially goes directly to the teacher's objectives. It also showed that the teacher and the students have different perceptions of the classroom.
