      The article reveals new privacy threats faced by the public through legitimate firms with whom they do business with and the lack of privacy laws to address the problem. One example of such threat is demonstrated by a court case involving American Car Rental. The company installed Global Positioning System devices in its cars to track speed and location. The devices contact the company each time a client drove faster, which in turn, clients incur charges. The company was sued and the court ruled that the company could not charge a speeding fee. There is no comprehensive national privacy laws that exist. Advocates are pushing for a national standard for years but acknowledged that it is far from getting one.
