The article focuses on the animated film Over the Hedge which features several animal characters. RJ the raccoon is like the James Bond of the animals. Real raccoons are thought of as clever and rascally, but their reputation may have as much to do with their fingers as their smarts. Their long, thin fingers can move almost like a human's, making it possible for them to grab food or open the lids of garbage cans and coolers. Vincent the bear steals goodies from frightened campers but never actually attacks anyone. Black bears such as Vincent tend to avoid humans. They are dangerous only when they are defending cubs or have been surprised. Verne the turtle sleeps through the winter, but he will often peek his head out of his shell to make sure his animal friends are safe. Real turtles also occasionally move around during their winter sleep.
