    • Abstract:
The article presents an interview with Bob Bovenschulte, president of the publishing division of the American Chemical Society ACS. According to Bovenschulte, the scope of the publications program of the society encompasses the chemical science broadly define, which means including areas of research inquiry at the interface with other disciplines. With regards to copyright issues, he believes that ACS does not have any difficulty in that area since they do not require copyright assignment. And when asked about the role of scholarly societies in an open access world, he said that those societies will continue to provide high-quality, high-impact, peer-reviewed publications in their respective areas of focus.
