    • Abstract:
The article informs that the University of California has agreed to divest its holdings in companies that do business with the government of Sudan. It is latest of several universities that have decided to do so. The university's Board of Regents voted unanimously to divest to protest the Sudanese government's participation in ethnic-based atrocities in the Darfur region of the country. Before the divestment plan could go into effect, the California Legislature must pass and the governor approve legislation that would protect regents and the university from claims arising over the discontinued investments.
