      The article presents information on women and their risks from autoimmunity. Autoimmunity is an increasing health care concern which afflicts both men and women. The immune system keeps us healthy by fighting viruses, germs and other pathogenic invaders. In an autoimmune disease, the immune system mistakes the body's own cells for invaders and goes on a rampaging attack. Common autoimmune diseases include thyroid disease, type I diabetes and lupus.
