The article reports on the changes in the screening for tuberculosis (TB) in children in the U.S. The Tine test ceased to be a reliable measure of TB screening because the dose of antigen on the four prongs was not consistent. The Mantoux tuberculin skin test is now considered the gold standard. It is done by injecting protein derivative tuberculin into the forearm to produce a wheal six to 10 millimeter in diameter.
