    • Abstract:
The article reports on the development of a way to measure motivation by use of a simple device called the pursuit rotor. This device is composed of a hard-plastic turntable into which is placed a small metal disk that is the target. The subject attempts to hold a metal stylus in continuous contact with the target as the turntable revolves at 60 rpm. Contact between the stylus and the target activates an electric clock.
