      The article focuses on the development of the GateReader system of Southwest Airlines Co. According to the Jan Marshall, Southwest's technology leader, the company wants a system that could quickly provide passenger data. The company spent most of 2003 developing the application. The company has implemented the system between September and November 2003. To date, there 372 GateReader systems in 62 airports across the U.S. Moreover, almost 50 workers helped developed the application using C++ programming language and a Java Swing front end.
