South Africa to deport killer of anti-apartheid hero Chris Hani to Poland

JOHANNESBURG South African authorities said Friday they will deport 71-year-old Janusz Walus, a white supremacist who has served three decades in prison for the 1993 killing of anti-apartheid leader Chris Hani. Walus, a Polish immigrant who acquired South African citizenship, gunned down Hani outside his home in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg in April 1993. The assassination is said to have nearly thrown South Africa into a civil war barely a year into its transition from apartheid to democratic rule. Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni told a media briefing on Friday that Walus would be sent back to Poland today....
