    • Abstract:
The article describes some genetic engineering techniques that produced nonbacterial proteins from recombinant bacteria. Specifically, the authors examine the application of these techniques in a laboratory at Harvard University. In this experiment, a rat gene that specified the hormone insulin was copied, to insert the gene into bacteria and to get the bacteria to manufacture a precursor of insulin.
