The article reports on the controversy surrounding the collection of online sales tax by Barnes&Noble.com. A debate has ensued over Barnes' collection of sales tax at several states in the U.S. Accordingly, the sales tax collection of Barnes has not changed since it has always charged tax on some states. However, the company's claim has been refuted by the Northern California Independent Book Association which alleges that Barnes' sales tax collection is entirely independent of the Borders decision.
