    • Abstract:
The article reports that the Developmentally Disabled Assistance and Bill of Rights Act has been signed into law by U.S. President Gerald Ford on October 4, 1975. The legislation includes dyslexia and autism as developmental disabilities, requires certain percentages of funds for deinstitutionalization, mandates a minimum state allotment, expands the University Affiliated Facilities program, and provides for a separate project grant authority. It also calls for individualized habitation plans and state protection and advocacy systems for developmentally disabled persons.
