- Abstract:
The article focuses on increasing competition prevailing in the aviation industry. The competition between the world's two largest aircraft manufacturers, U.S. based Boeing Co. and Europe's Airbus Inc. consortium, remains intense with both companies posting record sales in 2005. The rivalry between the two increased further at the Dubai Air Show in November 2005, when Boeing landed the biggest order yet for its wide-bodied B777 plane. The deal was announced by Emirates Airlines chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum on the first day of the Dubai show when he revealed Emirates had placed firm orders for 42 Boeing planes, with a book value of close to $10 billion, for 10 B777-200LRS
