- Abstract:
The article examines three basic ways religion influences the literature curriculum in the United States. First, a good deal of modern and traditional literature deal with religious themes. Second, literature utilizes the Bible. Third, much of the sacred writings of the world's religions has literary merit itself. Projects that represent only a sampling of the activities under way are presented. Schools are more likely to undertake a study of the religions in history than they are to conduct the study of the history of religions.
