This article reports on the United States Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) recommendation to add the strongest possible safety warning for Ritalin and other attention-deficit drugs. Attention deficit drugs such as Ritalin, Concerta and Adderall are stimulants that can raise heart rate and blood pressure. The FDA is aware of 25 cases of people, 19 of them children, dying suddenly while on the drugs. There have also been dozens of cases of strokes and arrhythmias, but the causes of these are not certain.
