- Abstract:
The article presents a narrative of the author on an experiment that involved developing an apparatus for studying crystallization in solution that is frozen on a mercury surface. The system consists of a small freezer in which a trough of mercury is placed supported by a large block of metal to stabilize its temperature. The experiments were made with solutions of a single mineral salt, which when cooled, would produce crystals of either salt or ice. The procedures in performing the experiments are presented.
