      The article explores the problem of gully erosion in São Luis and Palmas, Brazil. It discusses climate, soil, ecology and the human impact of soil erosion. The author has stressed that in São Luis, deforestation and the careless exploitation of natural resources are the factors that trigger gully erosion while mismanagement by local authorities actuates the gully erosion in Palmas.
