    • Abstract:
The article focuses on obscenity and Anglo-American Modernism in the United States and in Great Britain. The unexpurgated publication of D.H. Lawrence's novel "Lady Chatterley's Lover" had been considered to be legally obscene in the U.S. and England. However, in 1960 the U.S. Court of Appeals freed the novel and it became Grove Press's best seller. Opinions related to censorship and determination of various literary works differed from person to person. In 1970, feminists charged the Grove Press offices in New York against various offences including dehumanizing of women, pornography, sado-masochistic literature, and various malpractices against female employees.
