      The article reports on the development of a test for the early detection of sepsis, a bacterial infection of the blood by scientists at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. The test uses fluorescent antibodies that signal the presence of certain protein markers on the surface of white blood cells called neutrophils. The clinical trial for the test is conducted at Boston University.
