      The article focuses on the status of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Croatia. According to the Croatian National Bank, 91 percent of domestic banking assets is under foreign ownership. In 2003, FDI amounted to US$1.956 million. Austria has a share of 25.70 percent of FDI in Croatia in the period between 1993 and 2003. The accession of the country to the European Union has attracted investors which contributed to political stability and economic reforms.
