    • Abstract:
The article presents information on drug abuse testing in the U.S. 10-23% of American workers are using dangerous drugs on the job and the U.S. is paying for such drug abuse but analysts have seen a huge growth market in workplace and home drug screening. The total market for the tests could reach $220 million by 1991. Drug tests can be analyzed on site by a computer at a rate of up to 40 an hour using simple new kits and software available from North Chicago, Illinois-based Abbott Laboratories Inc., one of the world's largest diagnostic companies.
