      The article looks at the work of evangelical Christian missionaries in Siberia. American missionaries flooded into Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Missionaries increasingly found Russians uninterested in Christianity. For some Russians, the Russian Orthodox Church was the only rightful church in Russia. Many missionaries reached out to those who were marginalized by society. Mission boards in the U.S. have increasingly redirected funds away from Russia.
