The article offers information on the plant pest Ips hauseri Ritter which is commonly known as Krygyz mountain engraver. It occurs in mountainous areas of Central Asia. Its rate of development depends on altitude and position of trees. This species is described as the most important xylophagous pest of P. schrenkiana. Its natural spread of the pest by adult flight is limited.
