- Abstract:
The article presents information on the Eighth International Conference & Exposition on MultiMedia and CD-ROM. The perfectly orchestrated show combined the best visual and sound effects of Hollywood with the most powerful interactivity of the latest software and hardware from the Silicon Valley. For star watchers there were the two most powerful men of the computer industry, Bill Gates of Microsoft and John Sculley of Apple, taking part in the same session with Barry Diller of the QVC Network, and John Malone of TeleCommunications Inc., who were representing the entertainment industry, and discussing the convergence of the two industries. The CD-ROM technology was at its best in the exhibit hail, proving that it is the ideal medium to store whopping video, audio, and text files virtuously controlled and artfully mixed by powerful and still easy-to-use computer software. The hardware components offered by Kodak, Sony, JVC, Philips, Hitachi, Texel, and CHINON were equally impressive with their performance figures and price tags.
