    • Abstract:
The article provides information on a study which investigated whether the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D may reduce the risk of bone fractures in the elderly The findings of the study, published in a 2005 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, indicate that the RDA of vitamin D for older adults dose was not effective in reducing nonvertebral fracture rates among study participants. However, doses of vitamin D in the range of 700 to 800 IU may reduce the risk of fracture by approximately 25%.
