- Additional Information
- Abstract:
The article discusses roles of protégé race, gender and proactive socialization attempts on peer mentoring. Mentoring has been studied and linked to positive outcomes in a variety of organizational environments, including academic contexts. There is evidence that students who have participated in mentoring programs accrue similar benefits as professionals who have mentors. For example, graduate students with mentors have greater levels of satisfaction, are more involved in professional activities, and have higher rates of research productivity and publications compared to students without mentors.
