      This article profiles illustrator and author David McPhail of Newburyport, Massachusetts. He eventually enrolled in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. While a student, he worked part-time for a book wholesaler and found himself reading children's books on his lunch hours. Awards received include Child Study Association of America's Children's Books of the Year (1985) for Farm Morning and The Dream Child.
