      This article features the life and works of author Eric Philbrook Kelly. Kelly worked as a reporter and an instructor in English as well as a writer. His first book, The Trumpeter of Krakow, a work of historical fiction set in fifteenth century Poland, received the Newberry Medal. Kelly had experience distributing relief supplies in Poland after World War I. During World War II, he was chosen by the U.S. Department of State to settle Polish refugees in Mexico. Other books written by Kelly include The Christmas Nightingale: Three Christmas Stories From Poland and the Treasure Mountain.
