    • Abstract:
Reports that chemists at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey and Merck Research Laboratories found out that a vancomycin derivative whose sugar component has an altered chemical structure kills bacteria by a mechanism different from that of vancomycin itself. Possibility of using sugar chemistry to make such glycopeptide antibiotics more potent against bacteria.
