    • Abstract:
A meta-analysis conducted by investigators at Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, examined the relationship between circulating neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and preeclampsia (PE). The study, which included 18 case-control studies with 1293 women with PE and 1773 healthy pregnant women, found that women with PE had significantly higher levels of NGAL in their blood compared to controls. The research concluded that high circulating NGAL is associated with PE, independent of the trimesters for blood sampling and the severity of PE. This study was published in The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
