    • Abstract:
A study conducted by the National Taiwan University Hospital and College of Medicine focused on the long-term neurocognitive function of individuals with citrin deficiency, a rare metabolic disorder prevalent in East and Southeast Asia. The research found that patients with a history of cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency during infancy had a higher incidence of ADHD compared to the general population, suggesting a potential long-term negative impact on neurocognitive function. Despite this, the study indicated that individuals with citrin deficiency generally had minimal impact on neurocognitive function, allowing for a normal life. The findings were published in Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics in 2024. [Extracted from the article]
