    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted at the University of South Florida focused on the outcomes of a surgical procedure called duodenoduodenostomy for Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS). SMAS is a rare condition that can lead to malnutrition due to a blockage in the duodenum. The study found that the duodenoduodenostomy procedure resulted in significant weight gain, improved iron levels, and maintenance of a healthy Body Metabolic Index (BMI) in patients over a three-year period. This research suggests that duodenoduodenostomy may be a promising surgical option for treating SMAS. [Extracted from the article]
