    • Abstract:
The article discusses the identity of the animal associated with Seth, the ancient Egyptian god of disorder, sexuality, and death. Through studying early depictions of Seth, archaeologist Pierre de Maret suggests that the animal may have been an aardvark, native to sub-Saharan Africa. De Maret highlights the similarities in characteristics attributed to aardvarks by peoples in sub-Saharan Africa and those associated with Seth by ancient Egyptians, suggesting a cultural connection. The article explores the evolution of Seth's representation from a real animal to an enigmatic chimera. [Extracted from the article]
